Indulge yourself by taking a walk through the enchanting acres of coffee in full bloom filling the air with a sweet lingering fragrance, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the dew drops shimmering like pearls in the morning sunlight, the aroma of grandma's yam pickles, the fresh air that stays fresh and cool all round the year, the cackling bonfires during cold winters and the taste of mother's home made wine. And these are more than just reasons for heading towards Souland.
Caught in the fast paced life in cities, chanting work mantras that have become an everyday lingo and living sandwiched between deadlines and desires, one often forgets to enjoy the little but bountiful joys of life that nature offers to mankind. Souland Estates promises a re-discovery of these very joys that will leave you wishing for more.
Take an evening drive through the winding roads of the village lined by pines and silver oaks that reach for the skies, watch the rains while sipping on hot coffee and vadas or take an evening walk with your loved one by the cauvery river nearby and re-discover each other, snuggle into warm beds and watch the sparkling stars in the clear skies above. The open windows letting in the cool breeze and even occasional fireflies will leave you enchanted.. ACCOMMODATION
The 40 year old Colonial type bungalow is one of its kind. The bungalow has a total of 3 spacious bedrooms with attached Bathrooms having running hot and cold water facility and can offer a total occupancy of 10 guests at a time with ease. The facility also includes round the clock power back up.

HOW TO GET THERE
While coming from Bangalore/ Mysore, take the diversion towards Sidapur. As you drive along, exactly 5 km from the famous Dubare Elephant Camp is where Souland Estates Homestay is located. You will spot the black & white gate with the words Sou Land on it adjacent to a Muthappa Temple, Thyagathur Village.
While coming from Madikeri, take the shortcut to Dubare Elephant Camp after Chettalli. At the junction where the shortcut joins the State highway 91, turn right and proceed about a 100 mts till you see the gate on your left.
From Sidapur, as you drive towards Madikeri, take the right towards Kushalnagar at the Vontiyangadi bridge. From the junction it is exactly 5 km. Drive along till you see the gate on your right.

ReplyDeleteI had a wonderful time staying at Souland Estates in December 2013. The whole family were so welcoming and made me feel very much at home. They were fascinating to speak to and I learned a lot. The food was also terrific and very varied -- all South Indian cusine I understand. The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable and the colonial-style bungalow itself is beautiful and set in a very well tended garden. Quite close by are Dubare Elephant Camp, the Bylakuppe, the Tibetan settlement and other interesting places, so there is plenty to do and see during your stay.
