 This August, get prepared to be lost in a labyrinth of intoxicating fragrances and vibrant colours! Souland Estates Homestay welcomes you all to celebrate the most colorful month on its calendar, as it readies itself for the festival of flowers, Onam! Onam is the most important and popular festival of Kerala. Commemorating the Vamana Avatar of Lord Vishnu, Onam celebrates the subsequent homecoming of Emperor Mahabali, during whose reign, it is believed that Kerala witnessed its golden era.

 Malayalis all over the world come together to celebrate this day in utmost pomp and splendor. Stretching over a period of ten days, from August 19-29, each day is welcomed with a “Pookkalam” (flower carpet) that grows bigger and bigger as the days go by. On the last day, apart from the excitement of designing the largest pookkalam of the series, the exchange of gifts and soaring high on a swing, all eyes are set towards the “Onasadhya”, or the traditional Onam feast, served on a plantain leaf, with over fifteen mouthwatering dishes spread on it!! Indulge in the yummyness of the famous Malabar style Sambar, Avial, Parippu, Kaalan, Achaar, Varavu, Pappadam, Pazham, Payasam, Sharkaravaratti, Varathupperi, Choru, Koottukari, Puliyinji, Pachadi and more!!
